    2. Open Import Wizard: In Outlook, click File > Open & Export > Import/Export.
    3. Select Action: Choose Import from another program or file and click Next.
  • File Type: Select Comma Separated Values and click Next.
  • Browse: Locate your .csv file.
  • Options: Choose how to handle duplicates (e.g., Replace duplicates with items imported) and click Next.
  • Destination: Select the Contacts folder and click Next.
  • Map Fields: Click Map Custom Fields to ensure columns in your CSV match Outlook fields correctly.
  • Finish: Click Finish to import the contacts.

Steps for Outlook on the Web / New Outlook

  1. Go to the People (contacts) icon in the navigation bar.
  2. Select Manage contacts in the ribbon.
  3. Choose Import contacts.
  4. Click Browse, select your CSV file, and click Import.

Important Tips

  • Encoding: Use UTF-8 encoding for your CSV to ensure special characters import correctly.
  • Format: Ensure your file uses commas as separators, not semicolons, as Outlook requires comma-separated values.
  • Mapping: If names or phone numbers appear in the wrong fields, use the “Map Custom Fields” option to drag and drop CSV headers to the correct Outlook contact fields.
